Erie Acquires Danial Singer from Niagara
Erie, Pennsylvania — Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has acquired forward Danial Singer and a fifth-round pick in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection in exchange for forward Ivan Lodnia.
Singer, a 5-foot-7, 165-pound winger, has appeared in 132 career OHL games with the Niagara IceDogs, and experienced his most productive season in 2017-18 tallying 26 goals and 48 points in 67 games played, good for fifth on his team in scoring. He also tied for fifth on the IceDogs in playoff scoring with eight points (2G-6A) in ten games played last spring. The 19-year-old was originally selected by the IceDogs in the 8th round, 153rd overall, in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The St. Catharines, Ontario native was named GOJHL Rookie of the Year in 2015-16 as a member of the Fort Erie Meteors where he amassed 31 goals and 57 points in 50 games played.
“We’re thrilled to add an offensively gifted player like Danial to our organization,” said Otters General Manager Dave Brown. “Danial has established himself as a danger to score in all situations, and more specifically, on the power play. We feel he helps us progress in that area, something we wished to address prior to the start season. Daniel understands where and how to score, and we hope he will continue his development into an elite scorer over his time with us.”
Lodnia, Erie’s first round pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, has appeared in 190 regular season games over his three-year tenure with the Otters. The Novi, Michigan native has recorded 155 points (32G-93A) during his career, including a career year last season with 59 points (22G-37A) in 62 games played. The 18-year-old was an integral member of the Erie Otters 2017 OHL Championship team, which led to the Minnesota Wild selecting him in the 3rd round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
The Erie Otters organization would like to thank Ivan for his contributions to the team and his dedication to representing the Otters in the Erie community. We wish him all the best with Niagara this season and in his future endeavors.
