Henry, Kischnick Commit to Erie

Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has received commitment from defensemen Kurtis Henry and Brendan Kischnick, both agreeing to Ontario Hockey League standard player agreements.

Henry was selected by the Otters 181st overall in the 9th round of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The 6’2”, 182-pound defender played in 49 games with the Niagara Falls Canucks of the GOJHL  in 2016-17, tallying a goal and 15 assists for 16 points. The 17-year-old is a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Kischnick joins the Otters after being taken by the team 120th overall in the 6th round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection. The 16-year-old defenseman appeared in 31 games last season with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League, posting a goal and 11 assists for 12 points. The right-handed shot measures in at 5’8”, 170-pounds and hails from Troy, Michigan.

The Otters continue their weekend in Buffalo, New York Saturday night at 7:30 against the Flint Firebirds as part of the inaugural OHL Preseason Showcase hosted at the HarborCenter.
