iHEART MEDIA ERIE, OTTERS ANNOUNCE RADIO BROADCAST PARTNERSHIP

Erie, Pennsylvania – Ahead of the 2021-22 Season, the Erie Otters have made it easier than ever to tune-in to every game with an all-new feel to the Otters Radio Network.

The Radio Network’s keystone will be right in the ‘heart’ of Erie, as the team proudly announces its partnership with iHeart Media Erie as the team’s official radio home of Otters Hockey – with WJET 1400AM as the flagship station for the Otters. As the largest radio broadcaster in NWPA and with a focus on community-first media, iHeart Media is committed to the continued growth and presence of the Otters in the Erie County community and beyond.

“JetRadio 1400 & iHeart Media are pleased to announce that we have once again joined forces with the Erie Otters to broadcast their highly anticipated 2021-22 season.” said iHeart Media Market President, Michael Malpiedi. “Erie loves hockey and we are beyond excited to bring you all the hard hitting action on JetRadio 1400 or find all the games on the free iHeartRadio App no matter where you are!”

iHeart Media will be home to live-game broadcast coverage of all 68 regular-season Erie Otters games, as well as broadcasts for the Ontario Hockey League Playoffs and Memorial Cup if the Otters qualify. A 20-minute pregame show, hosted by Voice of the Otters Shawn Bednard, and up-to 20-minute post-game show will be part of the game night radio broadcast. With iHeart’s massive coverage and reach as a broadcast entity, fans around the world will be able to tune into Erie Otters games totally free just by downloading the iHeart streaming app. The iHeart app will also be home to exclusive Otters’ shows and programming throughout the 2021-22 season.

The partnership will also include a large, collaborative focus on brand association and community engagement. With iHeart and the Otters focus to goodwill in Erie and surrounding communities, locality is a major part of the continued growth of these partnered organizations.Coverage Map iHeart Only

“After our first meeting with the team at iHeart, I knew that their commitment to the local community and passion for exponential growth in a media partnership was evident.” said Bednard. “The partnership will take the sound of Otters Hockey to new levels, and makes it easier than ever for our fans near-and-far to be able to experience our games. I’m proud to align our game broadcasts with the team at iHeart, and continue the legacy of broadcast excellence into our 25th Season.”

Play-by-Play broadcaster Shawn Bednard will start his inaugural season as the “Voice of the Erie Otters” and will call the OHL action all season long on WJET 1400AM and streaming on the iHeart app. Bednard will be joined by special guests throughout the season, giving fans the inside scoop on the Otters and an extensive look throughout the OHL.

Erie travels to Michigan for puck drop on the 2021-22 Regular Season, taking on the Flint Firebirds and Saginaw Spirit in back-to-back series. The Otters home-portion of the schedule opens on Saturday, October 23 at 7:00 P.M. against the Spirit.
