ROOKIE NOLAN LALONDE NAMED OHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Erie, Pennsylvania – A career-weekend for Goaltender Nolan Lalonde gets its exclamation point, as the Rookie earns his first Goaltender of the Week honor from the Ontario Hockey League.

The GOTW honor comes after Lalonde did not allow a goal against the Rangers in 4/6 periods (+ Overtime) this past weekend, and stopped 4/5 shooters in the Friday night shootout win. A career-high 40-save night in Saturday’s win over the Kitchener Rangers saw Lalonde offer just one goal on 41 shots faced. With the win, the Otters – and Lalonde individually – picked up win #10 of the season.

A 17-year-old netminder from Kingston, Lalonde has lead the Otters to four-straight wins from the crease. In the four-game stretch, Lalonde has allowed just eight goals; stopping 114/122 shots-faced for a .934 SV% and 1.96 GAA. Head Coach BJ Adams praised Lalonde for his consistency and play in his first season.

“We are very happy for Nolan, he had a great weekend.” said Adams “Nolan has been a consistent presence in net for us all season, and has helped put us in a winning position in many games.”

Lalonde was taken 49th Overall (Third Round) by the Erie Otters in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection Draft, and has been the workhorse in net for the team, suiting up in 24 of the teams 28 games.

A Prospect for the upcoming 2022 NHL Draft, Lalonde is among 28 goaltenders – five from the OHL – on the NHL Central Scouting ‘Players to Watch’ list. In the most recent listing, Lalonde was given a ‘C’ rating, signifying a player expected to be taken in the 4th Round.

This is Lalonde’s second Honor from the OHL this season, also being named November’s Midwest Division Academic Player of the Month, after receiving high marks at Fairview High School.

The Otters organization sends its sincere congratulations to Nolan on a well-earned distinction.
