Erie, Pennsylvania – Always of intrigue for the Erie Otters, the 13th Round would see the team select three players in the late sleeper round. This would represent three of the Otters’ final five selections.

Alongside their own pick at #245, the Otters would also have Niagara’s (247th overall) and Flint’s (260th overall) selections thanks to trade acquisitions. #247 was acquired from Niagara in January 2020 in the Kyen Sopa trade, while #260 was acquired from Flint in January 2022 in exchange for Alex Bradshaw.

In the 13th Round, with the 245th overall pick, the Otters would take 5’10”, 159 lbs. Forward Thomas Kuipers (Quinte Red Devils U16 AAA). Curd, a 15-year-old from Burlington, ON is a physically dominating, 6’6” 205 lbs. Defenseman from the Burlington Eagles U16AAA. Playing in 22 total games with the Eagles in the 2021-22 season, Curd grabbed four points (1G+3A) and 54 PIMs.

Morello, a 15-year-old from Toronto, is the second player selected today from the Toronto Red Wings U16 AAA. A 6’0”, 161 lbs. Forward, Morello was a point-per-gamer in the GTHL during the 2021-22 season, with 34 points (14G+20A) in 34 games.
