Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters General Manager Sherry Bassin announced today that the team has acquired forwards Jake Marchment and Remi Elie from the Belleville Bulls in exchange for forward Trent Fox, defenseman Jesse Saban and six draft picks.
“It’s important that trades are good for both sides of the deal,” Sherry Bassin said of the trade. “We gave Belleville two good prospects and excellent draft choices, and we are excited about the players we’re getting. I’m sure both sides are happy with this transaction. We believe these two players will make special contributions to our team.”
Marchment, a 6’3”, 218 pound center, has appeared in 79 games with the Bulls over the last two seasons, tallying 16 goals and 44 points over that time. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 6th round at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and is a cousin of Erie forward Mason Marchment.
Elie, a 6’1”, 202 pound winger, has appeared in 167 games over his OHL career, recording 50 goals and 119 points. He is an original draft pick of the London Knights (91st Overall in 2011), and was selected by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Elie was also invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp.
Saban, taken by the Otters in the second round of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, has played in 22 games in his first year in the OHL recording a goal and seven points. Fox, selected in the fifth round of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, has appeared in 34 games this season as a rookie, netting seven goals and 20 points. Erie also sends Belleville their second, third and sixth picks in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, their second and third round choices in 2017, and Owen Sounds’ second round pick in 2019.
