Otters Defeat the IceDogs 2-1

The Erie Otters completed the weekend sweep as they downed the Niagara IceDogs 2-1. Devin Williams played tough and racked up 17 saves, while Travis Dermott added the game-winning goal in the Meridian Centre.

Following an uneventful first period Dylan Strome broke the scoreless game with a filthy dangle. Strome split four IceDog defensemen before going from forehand to backhand and roofing the puck on Alex Nedeljkovic to open the scoring. Jordan Sambrook and Vanya Lodnia assisted on the Arizona Coyotes prospect spectacular power play goal at the midway point of the second period.

Over six minutes into the final period Tyler Boston tied the game after blasting a centering feed from Josh Ho-Sang past Williams. Dermott put the Otters back on top when we picked up a pass from Brett Neumann and slipped it between Nedeljkovic’s legs. Despite and untimely penalty by Lodnia with over two minutes left in the game Erie was able to hang onto a 2-1 win in Niagara.

Following three games in three days the Otters have a three-day break until they travel to London to take on the Knights on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

The Iron Worker’s Local Union No. 3 Ironmen of the game:

1) Travis Dermott, game-winning goal

2) Devin Williams, 17 saves

3) Alex Nedeljkovic, 37 saves.
