Otters Picks Heading to Under-17 Camp

Three players selected by the Erie Otters in the 2008 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection have been chosen to attend the 2008 Ontario Under-17 Provincial Camp being held June 26-29th in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Greg McKegg, Joe Basaraba and Connor MacLeod were among the 70 players named to the camp. All three players advanced after participating in Association Camps held in April and May.
McKegg was the Otters first choice (second overall) in the 2008 Priority Selection and was one of 10 players selected out of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA). The 15 year-old St. Thomas, Ontario native scored 73 goals and 126 points in 64 games with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs in 2007-08.
Basaraba was taken in the second round (22nd overall) by the Otters and was one of seven players advancing out of Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO). The 16 year-old from Fort Frances, Ontario registered 36 goals and 65 points in 37 games with the Fort Frances Muskies.
The Otters selected MacLeod in the seventh round (123rd overall) of the 2008 Priority Selection. The 16 year-old Sudbury, Ontario native, who collected 14 goals and 25 points in 42 games with St. Andrews College, was among the 12 players chosen from the Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA).
The final Ontario Under-17 Team will participate in the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge being hosted by Port Alberni, British Columbia from December 28, 2008 until January 4, 2009.

Erie Otters froward Justin Hodgman scored 23 seconds into the third overtime to lift the Fort Wayne Komets to a 3-2 win over the Port Huron Icehawks in Game 7 of the International Hockey League Finals played Monday night in Fort Wayne.
