Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters Hockey Club C.O.O. and E.V.P. Roy Mlakar announced today that the team has signed General Manager Dave Brown to a three-year contract extension through the 2019-20 season.
“Ownership is pleased with the direction Dave has made with the club and our success,” Erie Otters C.O.O. and E.V.P. Roy Mlakar said. “His diligent hard work, and that of his Scouts, is evidence of the Otters success. Now with the appointment of Chris and his staff, we are solidified long term. We look forward to more excitement and the continued winning tradition for Erie.”
Brown was hired as General Manager on July 20, 2015 following the purchase of the team by Jim Waters and JAW Hockey Enterprises. In his two seasons at the helm, the Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario resident helped build the Otters to consecutive 50-win seasons, Midwest Division Championships, and Hamilton Spectator Trophies as the OHL’s Regular Season Champions. In 2017, Brown constructed a roster that would see the Otters win their second championship in team history, claiming the J. Ross Robertson Cup and a trip to the 2017 MasterCard Memorial Cup Final.
Dave Brown joined the Otters in 2010 as Director of Hockey Operations and helped the team turnaround into a perennial contender, beginning a Canadian Hockey League record of four straight 50-win seasons in 2013-14. In his seven seasons with the organization, Brown has helped assemble an Otters club that has made four consecutive conference final berths, two OHL final appearances, and won three consecutive division titles, two OHL regular season championships, an OHL Championship and Memorial Cup berth in 2017, while seeing 11 of his players selected at NHL Entry Drafts.
