Huskies top Otters, 7-3, in preseason action

Jake Evans collected three points for the Otters, who lost 7-3 against the QMJHL's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Saturday night.

Flamborough, ON - The Erie Otters continued the preseason as they christened the new North Wentworth Arena in Flamborough with a 7-3 loss against the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Huskies broke the game open with three goals in the second. Rookie Hayden Hodgson slammed in a rebound in front of the net to put the Otters on the board with 8.2 seconds left in the second period.

The Huskies poured it on in the third period with three goals in a span of two minutes and 37 seconds to make it 6-1, Huskies.. Nick Betz ended the run with his first of the preseason at 9:16. Liam O'Brien answered back for the Huskies one minute and 43 seconds later to make it a 7-2 game.

Jake Evans completed the scoring with his second goal of the preseason with four minutes and 16 seconds left to play, completing a three-point night for the second year Erie Otter. Connor McDavid and Stephen Harper collected the assists on the goal.

Leading the way for the Huskies was Jean-Sebastien Dea, who scored twice and added an assist.

After the Labor Day weekend, the Otters will venture to St. Catharines to battle the Niagara IceDogs Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in their third game of the preseason.
