Procedure

The Erie Otters assure the provision of a quality education on an individual basis following a close evaluation of each athlete’s circumstances and based on individual educational goals. This assessment, which is conducted to determine the best educational direction for each individual player, requires input from: The Athlete, His Parents, The Home School (principal and/or counselors), and the selected Erie School.

Educational Specialists

Education is coordinated and overseen by a team of professionals who serve as consultants as well as a constant avenue of communication in regard to progress toward academic goals. Those professionals who are always available for consultation include:

Jaime Cieszynski – Otters Education Advisor

• Bachelor of Arts from Gannon University
• Over a decade of experience in the Otters Front Office, including three years as education advisor.

Ed Kissel – Erie Otters Canadian Education Advisor

• Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts with more than 25 years of experience in Canadian education
• Currently the Head of Guidance and Career Studies at Pickering High School

Educational Options

The Erie Otters are proud to offer a wide range of quality options from throughout the Erie area educational system.

High School

• McDowell High School - co-ed public school, suburban setting. A number of members of the Otters who attend McDowell High School complete their education and graduate from McDowell High School rather than transferring back to their home school, but that choice is an option for families to decide.

• Cathedral Preparatory School - private college prep, all-male

College

• Mercyhurst College

• Gannon University
